Office Snack Scoop Episode 1 Takeways: Fiber, Flavormaxxing, and the Beverage Boom
From fiber to flavor maxxing to the beverage boom, Vaibhav and Becca break down the trends defining office snacking and drinking in the first half of 2026.

Welcome to the first episode of Snack Scoop, Crafty's new video series unpacking the office food and beverage trends shaping today's office pantry.
Each episode, Crafty's Merchandising Manager and resident snack expert Vaibhav Shastry teams up with Crafty Trends Report author Becca Ross to break down what's moving, what's next, and what workplace leaders should actually be paying attention to.
In episode 1, three trends shaping the first half of 2026 take center stage: the rise of fiber, brands going big on flavor, and the beverage boom. Plus, every episode ends with a taste test, where one host brings something for the other to try. This time, the two are sipping drinks from BTS’s new food and beverage brand, ARIH.
Here's the scoop!
1. Is Fiber the New Protein?
Protein spent the last few years becoming the default expectation in office snacking, and now the next wave of functional eating is building on top of it. Fiber is emerging as that next layer, as employees want food that makes them feel measurably better, whether that shows up as better digestion, longer-lasting satiety, steadier energy, or improved gut health.
The science behind it comes down to how fiber moves through the body. Soluble fiber slows digestion, which is what creates that longer-lasting fullness people notice, while insoluble fiber adds bulk that keeps digestion moving smoothly. Fiber also feeds the beneficial bacteria in the gut, and as those bacteria break it down, they produce short-chain fatty acids that support gut lining health and have been linked to more stable blood sugar and steadier energy throughout the day.
Why it's happening now:
- GLP-1 medication use is reshaping portion sizes and eating habits, pushing demand toward smaller snacks with higher satiety
- High-protein snacks have become so mainstream that gut health is emerging as the next real differentiator for brands
- People want snacks that make them feel better, not just fuller
Products from the episode:
- IQBar Bars: Each bar has around 7g fiber, 12g protein, and brain health ingredients
- Cocojune Yogurt: Dairy-free yogurt, pairing gut health with protein
- Catalina Crunch: Cereal and snack mixes with fiber and protein in smaller, GLP-1-aligned portions
- Blume: Gut health and hydration blends, an early signal from First Tastes
Takeaway: Protein isn't going anywhere, but it's no longer the whole story. Fiber is that next lever, but it works differently than protein. Where protein strategy is often about maximizing grams per serving, fiber works best spread throughout the day in smaller doses. That means thinking about fiber across the whole pantry, not just one category: breakfast options like cereals, oatmeal, and fresh fruit, plus snacks and bars throughout the day to keep it consistent.
2. Brands are Flavormaxxing
While snacks are getting more functional, that doesn't mean that flavor is not important. Brands are doubling down on flavor more than ever before, whether that's spicy, sour, pickle, vinegar, sweet heat, umami.
Vaibhav's seeing brands execute on this in a few different ways. Some are taking a single flavor note, like spice, and turning it all the way up rather than balancing it against anything else. Others are working with chefs to curate more complex, custom flavor profiles. There's also a wave of brands merging familiar flavors with unexpected combinations, and a broader pull toward global flavors that haven't traditionally shown up in mainstream office snacking.
Why it's happening now:
- Employees are more willing to take a chance on a bold or unfamiliar flavor in this setting, since it's free to try
- Nostalgia is having a moment well beyond office snacking, and bold, familiar-but-amplified flavors bring a bit of joy and adventure into the workday without anyone having to leave the building
- As economic pressure builds, people tend to protect small, affordable indulgences even as they cut back on bigger purchases
Products from the episode:
- YumEarth: A better-for-you take on fruity candy with low sugar and natural colors
- UnReal: Nostalgic candy classics reformulated with better-for-you ingredients
- Keya's: South Asian-inspired chips, including a golden ranch with turmeric flavor
- Pipcorn: Popcorn built around bold, innovative flavors
- Think Jerky: Partners with chefs to develop more complex, restaurant-inspired flavors
Takeaway: The pantry's job is to support the routines that power great performance, so flavormaxxing works best layered onto habits your team already has. If chips are already a steady category in your pantry, bring in a bolder chip flavor for your team to trial. If your team has a go-to flavor they already love, look for a version with a twist on it rather than something unrelated. If candy is already in rotation, an easy starting point is swapping in a better-for-you option.
3. The Beverage Boom
We're seeing huge momentum building around beverages right now, from employees, brands, and startups alike. Hydration is a bigger priority than ever as employees look to drinks for energy, focus, and mood support. That demand is pulling in a wave of new entrants alongside established players, all racing to capture the same shift in behavior.
At trade shows, Vaibhav is seeing that firsthand as beverage booths take over the floor. He's seeing subcategories like cold brew, which had been shrinking, surging back, along with more functional beverage options entering the market that focus on mood.
Why it's happening now:
- GLP-1 use is fueling real growth in protein-forward drinks, with sales rising 11%
- Gen Z in particular is treating beverages as a supplement replacement
- 39% of consumers say they're concentrating on hydration more than they were a year ago
Products from the episode:
- Neuro: Cognitive and mood support drinks
- Hint: Flavored hydration built for everyday functional drinking
- Harmless Harvest: Premium coconut water with a clean ingredient story
- ITO EN: Tea built around ritual and functional benefit
- Banagua: Banana water delivering naturally occurring electrolytes and vitamins
Takeaway: Beverages are one of the easiest categories to test and learn from, since employees are far more willing to try something new here. That doesn't mean overhauling the whole lineup at once. Instead, introduce one new option at a time and watch the data to see what actually sticks. The strongest approach mixes classic staples people already reach for with functional options that map to different points in the day, like a protein shake in the morning, an electrolyte or coconut water option in the afternoon, and a probiotic soda for the late afternoon slump.
Taste Test: ARIH
Every episode ends with one host bringing a product for the other to try, and this time Becca brought drinks from ARIH, BTS's new food and beverage brand, for Vaibhav to taste.
ARIH's lineup taps into a few of the same trends already covered in this episode:
- The Dual Biotic Sodas combine prebiotics and postbiotics with 3g of dietary fiber per can, low sugar and calorie counts, and a milder carbonation than a typical soda, landing right at the intersection of functional soda and gut health.
- The Postbiotic Energy Drinks are zero sugar with 100mg of natural caffeine, positioned around steady energy and focus without the crash, plus added gut health support.
Takeaway: ARIH is a great example of the exact trends covered in this episode: natural ingredients, unique flavors, and real functional benefits, all wrapped in something that actually tastes good. That's exactly what we're looking for when bringing new products into office pantries. But we're also looking for reliability, and right now, ARIH is exclusively sold at Walmart in the US, with BTS fans regularly selling it out. That's something we at Crafty always keep in mind when scouting new products. But who knows, maybe one day ARIH makes it onto the office pantry lineup, and maybe next time Becca will finally get Vaibhav to try the ramen.
Conclusion
That's the scoop for Episode 1. As office pantries keep evolving alongside what employees actually want to eat and drink, Vaibhav and Becca will be back each episode to break down the trends worth watching and what they mean for your workplace.
