29 May Holidays to Celebrate at Work

The great news about May is that we can finally put winter behind us. (Unless, of course, you're somewhere that insists on throwing in a surprise third winter; stay strong.) But for the rest of us, May is basically the start of summer, making it the perfect time to start breathing a little life into your office snacks.

From National Strawberry Month to our CEO Nate finally getting a full day to celebrate hummus—his all-time favorite office snack—May’s foodie holidays make it easy to switch things up without overthinking it. Whether you're leaning into seasonal flavors, honoring heritage months, or just looking for an excuse to restock the break room, there are plenty of low-effort, high-reward ways to make your snack station a little more fun (and a lot more memorable).

Let's dig in!

May Holidays for Work

Here’s your guide to the snack-worthy moments and low-lift celebrations coming up this month.

For the Month

  • Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month: Stock up on AAPI Heritage Month snacks like ITO EN tea (a go-to across Crafty-powered pantries), GimMe Snacks seaweed, Hello Panda, and, of course, Pocky. Not only are these items pantry staples, but they are all AAPI-owned.
  • Jewish American Heritage Month: Chances are, many of your team’s favorite snacks are already kosher; you just might not know it. This month is a great time to take stock and explore more kosher treats. With the Crafty Platform, you can easily filter by what’s kosher to keep your brea kroom inclusive and well-stocked. Check out our full guide to kosher snacks.
  • National Barbecue Month: Sure, you could go all out with a full BBQ lunch—but sometimes the easier (and cleaner) win is stocking up on BBQ-flavored snacks. Think Jackson’s Chips in Carolina BBQ or LOVE CORN in Smoked BBQ for that sweet, smoky flavor without firing up the grill.
  • National Strawberry Month: This is your time to showcase fresh fruit in your office while also incorporating some strawberry flavors into your pantry. Snack on MadeGood Granola Minis in Strawberry or sip sustainably with Bevi’s Unsweetened Strawberry Lemongrass flavor.
  • National Egg Month: Hard-boiled eggs, egg bites, and egg sandwiches make great protein-packed grab-and-go meals at the office. Highlight the humble egg as part of your wellness-focused snack spread.

Day-Specific Celebrations

  • May 2: National Truffle Day
Unless you're shaving fresh truffle over your lunch (power move, honestly), celebrate the easy way with Pipcorn Truffle Mini Popcorn. It’s fancy enough to feel indulgent.
  • May 2: World Tuna Day
Tuna kits are absolutely underrated heroes of the office pantry. They’re shelf-stable, packed with 15–20g of protein, and can be prepped easily. Got bread on hand? You’ve got a sandwich—just like we showed in our Snack Hacks recipe book.
  • May 2: International Sauvignon Blanc Day
This is your sign to host a happy hour! Sauvignon Blanc pairs perfectly with snacks such as sea salt crackers, popcorn, or anything citrusy.
  • May 4: Star Wars Day ("May the 4th Be With You")
No need to overthink it—just rename your breakroom favorites with a Star Wars twist. Suddenly, you’ve got a themed celebration:
    • Chips: Boba-Q Chips
    • Juice: Jabba Juice
    • Popcorn: Padawon Popcorn
    • Twizzlers: Light Sabers
    • Cookies: Wookie Cookies
    • Water: Luke Skywater
  • May 4: National Orange Juice Day
All it takes is a few bottles of OJ in the fridge to celebrate. Plus, your team gets a boost of vitamin C to support their immunity.
  • May 5: Cinco de Mayo
Celebrate with Latinx-owned snack brands like Siete, Barnana, or bring in local tacos.
  • May 6: National Beverage Day
Use this as an excuse to mix things up—it's the perfect time to test a few new drinks in the fridge. We’ve got our eye on Sunpax Lemonade for a refreshingly bold upgrade.
  • May 8: National Have A Coke Day
There’s probably already Coke in your fridge, but that doesn't mean you can celebrate! Make it fun by running a quick Slack poll to settle the real debate: Classic, Diet, or Zero?
  • May 9: National Moscato Day
Host a low-key happy hour! Moscato plays well with fruity and salty snacks—think dried mango, honey-roasted nuts, or even a salty kettle chip.
  • May 11: National Eat What You Want Day
Today’s the day to indulge, and bulk snacks make it easy to go all in. We’re all about chocolate-covered everything: raisins, almonds, espresso beans…whatever hits the spot.
  • May 11: Mother’s Day
No one knows more about snacks than a parent; half their diet is whatever their kid didn’t finish. Before the weekend, show some love with a quick spread of their favorite treats. Bonus points if it doesn’t include goldfish crackers.
  • May 13: National Hummus Day
It’s finally Nate’s day to shine. The man lives for hummus—and he even shared his go-to hummus spread in our Snack Hacks recipe book if you want your team to recreate it!
  • May 15: National Chocolate Chip Day
An easy excuse to bring in cookies (as if we needed one). Go classic with Famous Amos, or level up with Quest’s protein cookie; 15g of protein and still full of chocolatey goodness.
  • May 16: National Barbecue Day
If a full BBQ lunch isn’t in the cards, lean on the snackable side of things; think Jackson’s Chips in Carolina BBQ or LOVE CORN in Smoked BBQ.
  • May 16: National Mimosa Day
Celebrate brunch-style—with orange juice, bubbly water, fresh fruit, and a little snack. It’s a festive twist on a mid-morning snack break.
  • May 16: National Pizza Party Day
Pizza’s a no-brainer—just bring it in and watch everyone magically appear. Want to mix it up? Lean into the nostalgia with Hot Pockets for the ultimate throwback.
  • May 17: National Walnut Day
Walnuts are rich in omega-3s and perfect for trail mix or salad toppers. Offer them plain or candied.
  • May 18: National I Love Reese’s Day
Yes, they’ve made a holiday for loving Reese’s—and honestly, we fully support it. Stock up on the classics, whether it's cups, minis, or whatever seasonal shape is out there.
  • May 21: International Tea Day
This one’s for the tea lovers out there (even though we’re firmly Team Coffee over here). Treat them to a proper tea break with Rishi or Harney & Sons, honey sticks, and maybe a cookie or two.
  • May 21: Eat More Fruits & Vegetables Day
Brighten up the breakroom with fresh fruit and veggies. If you're feeling bold, take a page from Meghan Sussex Markle's show and arrange it all in a rainbow. Employees, children–are they really that different?
  • May 24: National Italian Beef Day
This isn’t exactly a snack holiday—but with our HQ in Chicago, we’d lose all credibility if we didn’t mention it. Celebrate with catered Italian beef sandwiches, we sure will!
  • May 25: National Wine Day
Wine and snacks are the ultimate low-effort, high-reward pairing. Here are a few combos to get you started:
    • Cabernet + Dark Chocolate
    • Sauvignon Blanc + Sea Salt Chips
    • Pinot Noir + Popcorn
    • Rosé + Dried Fruit
    • Chardonnay + White Cheddar Popcorn
  • May 26: Memorial Day (Last Monday in May)
Honor the holiday with gratitude, rest, and community. As the unofficial start of summer, it's also the perfect time to bring out seasonal favorites: watermelon-flavored snacks, lemonade, and anything that tastes like sunshine.
  • May 30: International Potato Day
Finally—a holiday we can all agree on. Celebrate the most iconic snack ingredient of all time with a chip taste test. Kettle Chips bring the crunch, and Food Should Taste Good Sweet Potato Chips add a little sweet-savory twist.

Conclusion

That’s 29 reasons to celebrate, connect, and refresh your break room snacks this May. Whether you’re honoring heritage, trying out a new drink, or just finding an excuse to eat more chocolate-covered almonds (no judgment), these holidays prove that culture-building doesn’t have to be complicated. A few good snacks and a little creativity go a long way.

So go ahead. Rename your popcorn, restock that OJ, and maybe let Nate have his hummus moment. Summer’s almost here, and your breakroom is officially ready for it.
